Who is eligible to rent an apartment?

Seniors who are over 62 years of age, and individuals who are mobility impaired are eligible to become residents. B'nai B'rith does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, disability, family status, or national origin in accordance with the Fair Housing Act.

What kind of apartments are available to rent?

There are 176 efficiency, one-bedroom with one bath, and one-bedroom with two bath apartments at B'nai B'rith Parkview. All apartments include:

  • spacious closets
  • kitchen with electric range and refrigerator
  • cabinets and a pantry
  • bathroom with "grab bars", emergency cord, and flexible shower nozzle
  • individually controlled heat and air conditioning
  • TV cable and antenna connections
  • Heat and hot water included

 

What are the dimensions of the apartments?

There are four types of apartments:

  1. Studio apartment
    • living room - 12' x 18' 7"
  2. Standard one-bedroom apartment
    • living room - 12' x 18' 7"
    • bedroom - 14' x 9' 4"
  3. Alcove one-bedroom (corner) apartment
    • living room - 15' x 12'
    • bedroom - 11' x 12
  4. Large one-bedroom apartment
    • living room - 12' x 18' 7"
    • bedroom - 12' x 18' 7"
    • two bathrooms

How much do the apartments cost?

Rental fees are fixed by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Affairs (HUD). The amount an person pays is generally based upon a resident's income, within a minimum and maximum range. Some HUD subsidies are available allowing residents to pay only 30% of their income.

Currently, the monthly rental fees fall within the following range:

A security deposit is required when a resident moves in. The money is placed in an individual interest-bearing account and is returned according to the rules of the rental agreement.

Is there a waiting list?

There are immediate openings for Studio apartments and a short waiting list for all one-bedroom apartments. However, prospective residents are encouraged to file an application in order to be placed on the waiting list.

How do I apply for an apartment?

To apply for an apartment at B'nai B'rith Parkview, simply fill out an application. You may obtain materials online by "clicking" on Application. Or, call our office at 518-465-2293. Send your completed application to B'nai B'rith Parkview Apartments, 400 Hudson Avenue, Albany, NY 12203. Applications are posted to any appropriate waiting lists on the day that they are received in our office.
