B'nai B'rith Parkview Apartments is a senior citizen apartment building located at 400 Hudson Avenue, Albany, New York. The complex of 176 apartments overlooks scenic Washington Park and the building offers a spectacular view of the park and downtown Empire State Plaza. We are within walking distance to restaurants, medical facilities, shopping centers, and museums, and we are convenient to city bus transportation.

We offer a variety of programs and services which makes our facility a unique and special home for seniors and handicapped persons unlike any other in the Capital District. B'nai B'rith Parkview Apartments offer the special feature of an onsite Service Coordinator who is available to help settle newcomers, to assist residents applying for governmental services, and to schedule tenant events, services, and programs.

The building is non-sectarian and welcomes all regardless of race, color, national origin, gender or religion. Many programs have a Jewish flavor, but we provide activities that appeal to the cultural and religious interests of all tenants.

Entertainment and Education
Our Residents enjoy a wide range of entertainment and educational programs throughout the year. Some of the special events include musical groups, a Passover Seder, a New Year party, a Valentines Day party, a Hanukkah party. The residents perform in their own International Chorus. Meal Program
B'nai B'rith Parkview Apartments offers an inexpensive home-cooked Kosher-style dinner served daily in our dinning room. A full course meal is served, including soup, entree, vegetable, side dish, bread, dessert, and beverages. Shabbat services are available for residents and visitors. Tenants' Association
An active Tenants' Association meets monthly to organize parties, community trips, luncheons, and weekly bingo games. The Association meetings enable residents to keep up-to-date with building news and to express their ideas. The Association operates Welcoming and Sunshine Committees. [Return to Menu]

 

Medical and Living Services
The All Metro Health Care Agency (518-426-0283) has an office in the building and they can provide reasonably priced assisted living services to residents. Other community agencies and private aid organizations visit residents and can provide services such as, personal care, housekeeping, laundry, and grocery shopping to help our tenants maintain independent living. Funding for qualified persons is available through Albany County and New York State social service agencies. Medical and social day care is also available in the community for those tenants who require additional services. Transportation is often provided by these community agencies.
 
 
Medical information seminars and clinics are held in the building throughout the year. Recent events include eye screening, influenza shots, and a podiatry clinic. A registered nurse visits the building throughout the month to monitor residents' blood pressure and other vital signs. [Return to Menu]

 

Security Services
B'nai B'rith Parkview Apartments is staffed by onsite, 24-hour security personnel. They respond to emergencies and resident needs. Each apartment has a minimum of two emergency pull cords. The front foyer is equipped with a telephone entrance system for added security. Visitors gain entrance by calling residents through a telephone intercom system. Each apartment has an individual smoke detector and every hall is equipped with a fire sprinkler system. [Return to Menu]

 

The Store and Laundry
The building has the "Community Store" located outside the main dinning room, which offers made-to-order breakfast and lunch and a full complement of grocery, produce, meats and dairy products. The selection of desserts and candy is a special attraction. The Store is open weekdays from 10 am to 3:00 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon to 4:00 pm. A full-service Laundry is located near the main lobby, and is open 24-hours a day. [Return to Menu]

 

Parking and Handicap Access
Some assigned parking spaces are available for residents around the building and in a rear lot. Although there is sometimes a short waiting list for assigned parking spaces, on-street parking is generally available on the adjacent streets. The building is accessible for persons with disabilities and an access ramp in the rear courtyard provides easy entrance to the complex. [Return to Menu]

 

Personal Services
An onsite Beauty and Barber Shop is open Tuesday and Wednesdays for all residents. Pedicures are also available once a month. Door-to-door bus transportation to a major local supermarket has service on Wednesday afternoons. Bus transportation is also provided to the Albany Jewish Community Center and to the Senior Services Center. Mail is delivered to individual mail boxes located in the main lobby by the US Postal Service. There is a drop-box for outgoing mail and a mobile post office comes monthly enabling residents to conveniently buy stamps and send packages. There are also personal health services available through community and private agencies.
 
 
There are two main floor lobbies, large and small community rooms, a 12th floor lobby and separate library, and a private, outdoor courtyard with gazebo and garden for residents and their guests. The 12th floor lobby has a library and computer center with high speed cable modem access to the Internet. The main office is open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, and personnel are onsite at all times. [Return to Menu]
